Born in Tokyo, Kazuko Inoue moved to the Unites States in the 1960s and went on to receive her BFA and MFA from Michigan State University. Her work has a spiritual dimension which is expressed through her minimalist aesthetic. Inspired by the work of artists such as Kazimir Malevich, Vassily Kandinsky and Henri Matisse, Inoue’s work explores the relationship between tone, color and forms with her simple grid-structured canvases. Her work can be found in many collections, such as the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Newark Museum and the Mobil Oil Company.
