Maine born artist Bernard Langlais studied art at the Corcoran School of Art, Washington D.C. and went on to receive scholarships to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, The Brooklyn Museum Art School, in addition to the Fulbright Scholarship to study the paintings of Edvard Munch in Oslo. He is known for his fusion of different mediums and styles, combining sculpture and painting, as well as classism and modernism. His inlaid wood technique, as seen in this work, is a signature of his artistic style. The artist has been honored with distinguished solo exhibitions, such as at Leo Castelli Gallery and Allan Stone Gallery.
