Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The canvas is unlined and well-stretched. The media layer is stable overall. The work is lightly soiled overall. Light wear and scattered minor pinpoint spots of media loss are present around each of the extreme edges of the canvas. Faint stretcher marks are present along the extreme left and lower edges of the canvas. Under raking light inspection, faint surface accretions become apparent in the lower quadrants, in the black field. In the lower left quadrant, two spots and one quarter-inch diagonal line of paint loss are present. Under ultraviolet light inspection, a one-inch circular area of inpainting becomes apparent at the extreme center right edge, just above the horizon line.
