Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is a slight undulation to the sheet, inherent to the artist’s working method. There are artist’s pinholes in the upper right and left corners. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. The sheet is hinged verso to the mat intermittently along the edges. Framed under Plexiglas.

"Thiebaud's audaciously designed landscape paintings...depicting exaggerations such as horizon, which may be either represented as an arc or straight line. The paintings look geologically inconceivable, with the horizons running at impossible angles, frequently diagonally from corner to corner." "The paintings look geologically inconceivable, with the horizons running at impossible angles, either represented as an arc or straight line... it has to do with an innocent point of view and a sense of wonder about the painted object. In a way, it is from the perspective and enchanting spirit which reaches out to touch and engage the inner child in each of us."
