Condition

This work in very good condition overall. The top edge of the sheet is slightly deckled. There is a slight undulation to the sheet, inherent to the artist’s working method. The sheet is slightly discolored with age, visible when the top mat is lifted. Under very close inspection, there is a pinpoint and unobtrusive spot accretion along the right edge and three minor and unobtrusive pinpoint spot accretions in the center. The sheet is hinged verso to the mat along the top edges. Framed under glass.

“I want to draw that quality of response from people who leave themselves behind, often experienced in nature, an experience of simply joy...My paintings are about merging, about formlessness...A world without objects, without interruption."

This work will be included in an upcoming catalogue raisonné of Agnes Martin's works on paper to be published digitally by Artifex Press.
