Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly brighter and more vibrant in the original. Condition: This work is in very good and original condition. There is a hanging hole on the reverse of the work. Very close inspection reveals some specks of white media to the lower left edge and bottom left edge of the reverse of the cabinet and a tiny speck to the lower left hand corner tip of the front. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals some uneven fluorescence, which appears to be consistent with the artist's application of varnish.

“Polka dots are a way to infinity. When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environment. I become part of the eternal and we obliterate ourselves in love” (Yayoi Kusama cited in: Frances Morris, ‘Yayoi Kusama: “My Life, a Dot”’, in: Exh. Cat., Buenos Aires, Fundación Costantini, Yayoi Kusama: Obsesión Infinita, 2013, p. 199).
