來源

Anonymous sale, Paris, 28 April 1904, nos 47 and 48 (according to labels on the reverse of both paintings);
With P. & D. Colnaghi & Co., London, 1975;
From whom acquired by the present owner.

Condition

Both canvases are lined, both paint surfaces are relatively clean, and the varnishes slightly discoloured. There is some slight wear along both lower margins, as well as small scattered visible retouchings. There is a 1.5 cm. thick horizontal band of visible retouching in the landscape with wrestlers, upper centre in the tree, approx. 30 cm. long, as well as to a cross-shaped repaired damage just above it, approx. 3 x 5 cm. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these, and reveals a few further retouchings, most notably a horizontal thin band in the landscape with wrestlers, lower centre, approx. 30 cm. Both appear in overall good condition and are ready to hang.
