Like his father John Hugh le Sage to whom he was apprenticed in 1742, Simon Le Sage was subordinate Goldsmith to the King circa 1754-59. Parts of this commission, probably marking the accession of the new King have appeared at auction. A salver was sold Parke Bernet, March 20, 1970, lot 87 from the Collection of Eugene Widener Dixon, and a treasury inkstand Sotheby’s New York, April 9, 2009, lot 268.
