The dish is engraved "BP- HHP from ST and KNT" and with dates 1856 and 1906. According to Larry Pristo, Martelé: Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, the asparagus dish and liner were completed on 7 October 1904, and had a net factory price of $130.  The dish required 35 hours to raise and was worked by Josiah Poyton.  The chasing of the dish was done by Emil Stursberg and was accomplished in 22 hours.  The piercing of the liner, also called a drainer, was completed in 10 hours.
