possibly the back rail section of a day bed, deftly carved and reticulated in the round with interlocking chilong, the wood with a golden brown patina

The panel is of nanmu wood and in overall good condition. There are few expected dents along the edges and occasional age cracks. The panel is carved on two sides, one side being slightly brighter than the other, most likely due to exposure of light. The panel might have been a section of a day bed originally. The filled-in mortise is still showing on one end, as visible on the catalogue photo. The overall presentation state remains very good.
