Sapphire, ruby and diamond brooch, late 19th century
Designed as a bumblebee, the body and wings set with circular-cut and rose diamonds and cushion-shaped sapphires, the central Kashmir sapphire weighing approximately 2.50 carats, the eyes set with cabochon rubies, brooch fitting detachable, French assay marks for silver and 18 carat gold, maker's mark, total gross weight approximately 23.00 grams.
Accompanied by SSEF report no. 99871 and LFG report no. 329892, each stating that the central sapphire is of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating. The SSEF report also stating that the remaining sapphires are of basaltic deposit, with no indications of heating, except one with indications of heating.
