SAPPHIRE, RUBY AND DIAMOND BROOCH, LATE 19TH CENTURY

描述

Designed as a bumblebee, the body and wings set with circular-cut and rose diamonds and cushion-shaped sapphires, the central Kashmir sapphire weighing approximately 2.50 carats, the eyes set with cabochon rubies, brooch fitting detachable, French assay marks for silver and 18 carat gold, maker's mark, total gross weight approximately 23.00 grams.

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 99871 and LFG report no. 329892, each stating that the central sapphire is of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating. The SSEF report also stating that the remaining sapphires are of basaltic deposit, with no indications of heating, except one with indications of heating. Pin stamped with French assay mark for 18 carat gold, bottom of bee stamped with French import mark for silver, underside stamped with maker's mark G | G. Diamonds bright and lively, sapphires mid-blue, well matched for colour with good saturation, some very minor chips to facet edges, sapphires with some minor typical inclusions visible under magnification. Mount with typical areas of tarnish, light scuffs commensurate with age and wear, however overall in good condition.
