STAR SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, 1910S

Set with an oval cabochon star sapphire stated to weigh 40.00 carats, within a scrolled open work mount, set with single-cut and rose diamonds, size 501/2, French import assay marks for 18 carat gold, gross weight approximately 13.90 grams.

Accompanied by GCS, report no.78162-66, stating that the sapphire is natural, with no indications of heating, origin opinion Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Measuring approximately 19.00 x 15.10 x 13.00mm and stated to weigh approximately 40.00 carats. Sapphire mid violet blue, transparent/semi-transparent, typical inclusions visible to the naked eye, some are surface reaching, faint star effect, more prominent under spot lighting. Minor fractures due to surface reaching inclusion, surface wear and scratches to stone surface. Stone is loose in its mount. Diamonds bright and lively. Surface scratches and wear to metal surfaces. Ring shank has been resized, not entirely round. Overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 13.9 grams.
