拍品資料及來源

The paintings in the opening bifolium seem to depict gatherings of sufis before Jalal al-Muhammad Rumi and devotees approaching him. The texts in the cartouches are in Arabic in praise of Rumi’s Mathnawi, describing it as ‘The parable of his light is as if there were a niche and within it a lamp’, which is a quote from the Qur’an, surah XXIV (al-Nur), part of verse 35.
