of deep round form with everted rim, fritware decorated in underglaze blue, green and bole red with black outlines, featuring a petalled ewer in centre, the underside with one drill to the foot and remnants of old ink collector's number '...98'

The following eleven lots, comprising sixteen Iznik dishes and two revival, come from a private collection acquired in Alexandria in the mid-twentieth century and subsequently have been with the same family in Switzerland for over half a century. Included within the group are a examples of the famous floral designs featuring the favoured Iznik flowers: roses, tulips, hyacinths, carnations and saz leaves. More rare are the examples with animals and even more so, those featuring figures such the present lot depicted smoking a pipe with a dog barking at his feet.
