This work is in generally good overall condition. The canvas is slightly wavy because to the artist's choice of media and materials. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

Combustione rappresenta un esempio brillante di una vastissima produzione firmata Alberto Burri. La scelta di materiali tra i più disparati lo connota e lo contraddistingue, ma l'utilizzo del fuoco lo porta su un piano ancora più alto. Sotto l’offesa rigenerante del fuoco, la membrana di plastica si incrina di riflessi scuri. È ancora il fuoco a deformare e ridisegnarne i contorni. La materia risorge dalle ceneri come una fenicie, ha una forma nuova e unica: ed è questa la firma di Burri.
Questo esemplare firmato e datato 1961 si inserisce nel periodo più prolifico per quanto riguarda le combustioni dell’artista, distinguendosi per il colore scuro che a tratti si illumina di grigio, dalla trama fitta e variegata. La sua ineccepibile conservazione la rende un’opera di straordinario potenziale.
Combustione is a brilliant example from the vast production of Alberto Burri. The choice of disparate materials connotes and distinguishes it, but the use of fire elevates this work. Under the regenerative fire technique, the plastic membrane cracks and causes dark reflections. It is still the fire that deforms and redraws its contours. The material rises from the ashes like a phoenix, has a new and unique shape, Burri’s signature.
This exemplar, signed and dated 1961, inserts itself into the artist’s most prolific combustion period. This work stands out with its dark color which is at points illuminated by grey tones. Its irreproachable preservation makes it a work of extraordinary potential.
