Osservando da vicino questa tela il modo con cui Donghi dipinge la veduta si propone come una sorta di raffinata tessitura del colore. Risulta chiara e distinta la fusione ottica dei sottili filamenti che compongono l’opera , impercettibili particelle di pigmento che si ricompongono sulla nostra retina, con una qualità pulviscolare. L’immagine sembra vibrare, mossa dallo spirito vigoroso della ruralità.
Upon close examination this work offers a spectacular opportunity to observe the manner in which Donghi paints the landscape as a perfect patchwork of colour. It is a clear fusion of subtle filaments which make up the work, imperceptible particles of pigment which reconstruct themselves in our mind’s eye with the quality of dust. The image seems to vibrate, moved by the vigour of the rural scene.
