Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the printed catalogue illustration. There are minor wears to the each of the four corners of the work and faint fold marks are located on the lower right corner, certainly inherent to the artist technique. The lower edge is slightly dirty. This work is in very good original condition.

拍品資料及來源

Bought at the Yvon Lambert gallery in 1988 and kept in the same collection for nearly 30 years, Untitled, 1982, perfectly illustrates Jean-Michel Basquiat's genius and compulsive style. Haunted by death after being nearly hit by a car at the age of 7, Jean-Michel Basquiat always used drawing as a way to exorcize his most obsessional fears. Conjuring up skeletal vanities to repel dark forces, the artist here unveils a wild and timeless piece that proves his polymath culture while drawing bridges between classical drawing, sacred voodoo mythology and inspirations from Picasso and Dubuffet.

This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from The Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
