A Roman Marble Figure of a Woman or Goddess, 2nd half of the 2nd Century A.D.
standing with the weight on her left leg, and wearing a chiton and himation falling over her left shoulder and lower body, the head (not belonging) probably of a young Dionysos, with centrally parted hair bound in a fillet passing over the forehead and surmounted by a wreath of ivy leaves and berries; neck, right shoulder, right arm, and left lower arm restored.
Total height 101.5 cm.; height without plinth 98 cm.

Paul-Louis Weiller owned at least two other ancient marbles: a spectacular Dionysiac sarcophagus relief from the Borghese and Émile Zola collections (Sotheby's, New York, December 10th, 2009, no. 42), which he acquired prior to WWII and later presented to French President Paul Reynaud as a gift, and a reclining figure of Ariadne or a nymph bought by him in 1961 (Christie's, Paris, November 28th, 2017, no. 702).
