Charles Romain Capellaro studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, under the tutelage of David d’Angers and François Rude. He debuted at the Salon in 1848 and won prizes in 1863, 1865 and 1866. His work Statue d’Hérault de Séchelles
can be seen on the façade of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, whilst at the church of Saint-Eustache, he sculpted L’Archange Gabriel.
