Prosper d'Épinay's most iconic model, La Ceinture dorée proved so popular that it was edited in bronze by the Barbedienne foundry. The gilding of the present cast beautifully complements the model's title.
Overall, the condition of the bronze is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The bronze is cast in sections and a joint is visible to the proper left leg, where there is also a plug. The edges of the base are very slightly warped. There are some minor darkish marks to the surface in areas. There are a few minor nicks and scratches, including to the back of the proper left arm and to the top edge of the base.
