Very good overall condition. With scattered areas of minor wear to gilding, and traces of polychrome to the hair. Minor compression to the finial atop ushnisha. Baseplate intact.

釋迦牟尼佛為參透輪迴，於印度東部菩提伽耶盤坐冥想，摩羅王率領群魔阻撓，經歷誘惑干擾，釋尊右手從禪定印轉觸地降魔印，地神出，見證得道。

釋迦牟尼佛作觸地印之形像經典，永樂佛像近例有二，皆連完整背光，其一現藏大英博物館，圖載於 Wladimir Zwalf 編，《Buddhism: Art and Faith》，倫敦，1985年，編號305，另一例原屬 Speelman 收藏，售於香港蘇富比2006年10月7日，編號808。如本尊尺寸小巧之永樂釋迦牟尼佛坐像，甚為罕見，烏爾裡希．馮．施羅德西藏寺廟典藏報告僅錄一例，現存布達拉宮，圖載於《西藏佛教雕塑》，香港，2001年，卷2，圖版358A。另一例永樂款已磨，現為私人收藏，見烏爾裡希．馮．施羅德，《Indo-Tibetan Bronzes》，香港，1981年，編號146D。另一永樂釋迦牟尼佛坐像例，則出自 Tuyet Nguyet 及 Stephen Markbreiter 伉儷收藏，與本品尺寸、造型相同，售於香港蘇富比2010年10月7日，編號2142。相較前例，本像身軀較形修長，肩膀更垂傾蓮座造型優雅，有別於永樂銅像典型，輪廓也更為分明，蓮座瓣尖端外撇更明顯，且整體品相良好，底座仍存刻十字金鋼杵之封板，實屬難得。

且有數例，可資比較，如北京故宮博物院藏像，載於《明永樂宣德文物特展》，北京，2010年，頁244，圖版118，以及另一較大（55 公分）之例，售於香港蘇富比2013年10月8日，編號3075。
