Each vase has scattered minor cracks, nicks, small chips, and superficial scratches to the lacquer, commensurate with age. There are losses to the lacquer at the feet, particularly to one of the vases. There has been some retouching and consolidation to the lacquer, particularly at the rims and feet. One vase has cracks and lifting lacquer to the interior of the foot.
