the shallow rounded sides rising from a short slightly splayed foot to an everted rim, decorated overall with a mottled brownish-black glaze and transparent glaze over white slip in producing of an unusual color contrast resembling yin-yang, the foot rim left unglazed revealing the pale buff-colored stoneware body

Condition

The rim has some minor fritting, as well as an approx. 1 cm wide shallow flake chip to the underside. Otherwise, the dish is in overall good condition with some expected firing imperfections, including two polished kiln adhesion marks under the rim.
