Condition

The panel is stable, cradled, and comprised of two boards with a single join that has become slightly separated and is visible to the naked eye horizontally across the middle of the panel. The left edge appears to be beveled. Under an uneven, yellow varnish the paint surface is well retained on the figure of St. Sebastian. There is some slight thinning to the paint on the background, but the image can still be read well. There is some minor scuffing along the edges. Under UV light the bottom quadrant shows a small area of retouching, meanwhile the aforementioned join fluoresces. Further reading under UV is impeded by the milky varnish. The painting is offered in an ebonized, wood frame.
