Condition

The paper is laid down on canvas. The work presents a lovely image, and although rubbed in some areas, the medium appears fresh and vibrant. There are some losses to the edges, most noticeably in the upper left and lower left corners. There are some old pin prick holes in the upper background behind the figure, and there are some repaired tears in the upper left corner of the background. There is a small tear, approximately 20mm, to the upper right margin, as well as a vertical line of possible faint inconsistency along the right edge. Sold in an 18th Century carved and gilded French frame.
