《東西橫貫路》乃郎靜山台灣時期非常重要的一幅作品。題款中的「壬寅」乃1962年。1960年，台灣中部的橫貫公路通車，成為台灣第一條串聯東部與西部的公路系統，當年動用了一萬多為退伍國軍，耗時三年九個月，而主事此一重大工程的，乃時任行政院國軍退除役官兵就業輔導委員會主任委員的蔣經國先生；1962年，郎靜山以中國攝學會理事長身份，獲邀參觀並拍攝橫貫公路，郎氏正好發揮「集錦」技法，將橫貫公路190公里的美景精華盡收此幅。
