1949年夏天，郎靜山應美國新聞處邀請到台灣作展，此後定居於此，作品開始呈現寶島風貌。莊靈老師指出，《六溪奇石》取景之處，應為台灣太魯閣六溪。本作由郎氏親題「靜山即景」，說明是紀實之作，卻富於抽象意趣，前景巨石紋理靉靆盤桓，在強反差處理下，有如墨分五色，層次分明，有水墨線條之遒勁，卻非人力可就，可謂天人合一之作。
