丁公繪畫好奇尚新，《鵪鶉玉蘭》尺幅狹長，正好成為他挑戰自我之空間，從上而下的枝幹統攝全圖，盛開的玉蘭與下方小鵪鶉形成互動，點明「春」之畫題。本作左下方有收藏家「博特」鈐印，其人待考；畫後則有「S.T.C.Lai」之鉛筆題籤，或與曾為丁公撰文出集的賴恬昌（TC Lai）先生有關。
