西方傳統中，藝術家接受教會的創作委託，乃崇高的榮譽與地位之肯定，從文藝復興的達文西、米開朗基羅，到現代的馬蒂斯、羅斯科，都在著名教堂內留下重要作品，流芳後世。2009 年，趙無極獲邀為始建於1092年的聖科姆修道院（Prieuré St. Cosme）製作窗戶玻璃。為配合其莊重大氣的中世紀建築，藝術家特意採用中國水墨，並在Eric Linard工作室的協助下，創作出十四幅獨特的玻璃水墨。為了表示謝意，趙無極特意與工作室合力創作此對《無題》，每套僅得八版，屬於趙氏最晚期、最巨幅之作，從尺幅到畫面，均呼應著修道院的水墨玻璃傑作，彌足珍貴。
