modelled in the form of a recumbent lion with alert eyes framed by thick coiling eyebrows, finely detailed with a ridged spine down its arched body covered by a ruyi cloud patterned cloth upon which a Central Asian figure mounts, the rider dressed in upturned boots and a soft conical hat characteristic of the attire of foreign grooms, possibly from Sogdiana
Condition
There are the expected surface dents and original casting imperfections, otherwise the bronze is in good condition.
