Condition

The canvas is original. There is a scattering of Artist's pinholes through the canvas, focused largely in the centre of the work, towards the upper edge. There are a small number of flecks of paint loss towards the edges of the canvas. There are a number of very fine lines of cracking in the paint surface, however these are stable. There are one or two further instances of cracking with some very minor flecks of associated paint loss; these are principally towards the lower edge. There is some surface dirt and studio matter throughout. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals one small area of fluorescence and sensitive retouching to the lower right corner. The work is held within a linen slip and gilt wood frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
