each of square section, the bulging central body supported on a high splayed foot and surmounted by a tall flaring neck, the corners and centre of each side mounted with vertical bronze ribbed flanges, brightly decorated to the centre with taotie masks, between archaic leaf-shaped phoenix panels to the neck and base, all on a bright turquoise ground

As illustrated, the gu on the right has small areas of predominatly blue enamel infill to the edges of the panels and inside edge of the rim, characteristic pitting to the enamel, minor enamel flakes and light rubbing to the extremities of the flanges; the gu on the left is in very similar condition and in addition a circa 1cm., split to the rim.

尺寸如本品碩大之方觚，甚為罕見，比較北京故宮博物院收藏一例，載於刊於《故宮博物院藏品大系．琺瑯器》，卷2，清掐絲琺瑯，北京，2011年，圖版36。另一例載於《Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection》，紐約，1989年，圖版212，同書並載另一例，尺寸較小，加納爵士收藏，圖版211。
