the cylindrical body with straight sides supported on three lingzhi feet, the broad band around the main body decorated in low-relief with various flowers including branches of peony, lotus, and flowering narcissus with lingzhi, all set against a stylised floral-diaper ground, bordered top and bottom with a band of continuous band of keyfret inlaid inlaid in silver wire, the relief floral design, the lip and bands around the upper neck, base and feet all parcel-gilt, the base engraved in seal script with the six-character mark Yunjian Hu Wenming zhi (Made by Hu Wenming of Yunjian)

This censer is in reasonably good condition, but has areas of rubbing and loss to the gilding to the bands above and below the bands of keyfret, to the flowers in the main band, and to the feet. One of the sides has at some point been slightly dented as the censer is not perfectly circular in section. There are also a number of nicks and scratches to the surface consistent with its age and use.
