with shallow rounded sides supported on a short straight foot, deeply carved through the red and black lacquer layers to the interior with ruyi-shaped cloud scrolls, the exterior similarly carved, the base lacquered dark brown, Japanese wood box
Condition
There is an approximately 12 by 3cm section of restoration to the rim. There are also two other areas of restoration to the rim. There are numerous cracks to the lacquer to the interior and to the base, with the lacquer lifting slightly to the cracks to the centre of the base.
