註:本冊內容豐富,包括傳統荷花、菊花、枇杷、石榴等花卉,又繪有蘆雁、秋蟹,以及茶壺器皿、白菜、殼類等,題材生活化,種類多樣。既有古樸設色,又有蒼潤墨染,當中更不泛富素描味的,用淡墨乾筆皴擦,表現對象之陰陽向背。取景角度獨特,但仍能保持整體效果閒雅融和,平中帶奇,是邊壽民之典型風格。邊壽民(1684-1752),字頤公,號葦間居士,江蘇淮安縣人,曾被黃賓虹列為揚州八怪之一,以教畫為主,尤好大雁,更構屋於蘆葦中,與雁為伍。
本冊原為木扉舊藏,齋主人鄭德坤(1907-2001),福建鼓浪嶼人,著名考古學家,先後在燕京大學、哈佛大學取得學士、碩士、博士學位,曾執學於牛津大學、劍橋大學,榮休後被邀任香港中文大學副校長,著有《中國考古學大系》、《中國明器》、《四川古代文化史》等,喜收陶瓷、玉器、書畫,尤以明清之交為多,並曾於1967年在巴黎賽奴奇亞洲博物館展出。
題簽者野叟,即蔣雨濃(1908-1986),原名蔣鑫瑞,自號野叟、在家僧、殘花老人,河北唐山玉田人,出生書香門第,善書畫,早年畫風工整,晚年則寫意放逸,曾加入中國書畫研究會,三、四十年代已有畫名,常與張大千、齊白石、于非闇等畫家交流。
