註:傅抱石與關山月相識於抗戰期間,然二人締結藝緣,則為一九五九年為人民大會堂合作繪製巨幅〈江山如此多嬌〉。此畫極獲讚譽,而傅、關兩人從此成為具有時代意義的藝術家組合,筆下合作遂被賦予別樣的歷史意義,公私單位及個人皆以得此為榮。而傅氏畫山、關氏畫樹,沿襲繪製〈江山〉一圖之方式,成為二人合作定式。
一九六一年五月,傅、關兩人受命重繪〈江山〉,再聚京城,然計劃忽遭擱置,改為同赴東北寫生。是年六月至九月底,他倆訪長春、吉林、哈爾濱、鞍山、撫順等地,歷時四月,行程四千餘里,寫生作畫,收獲頗豐。八月,二人抵鞍山,參觀鞍鋼,住鞍山勝利賓館,〈傅抱石年譜〉記載是月九日有「游千山」之行,本幅即繪於此前一日。傅抱石以淡墨淺色畫高士仰觀遠瀑,關山月復濃墨重筆添蒼松一株,傅氏最後題識署款,兩家筆墨酣暢淋漓,接合無縫,如出一手。作品僅題識,未鈐印,或出於參觀期間,一時興到,執筆寫此,印章未隨身攜帶。
