註：「斑園主人」簡又文（1896-1976），廣東新會人。早歲畢業於廣州嶺南學堂，赴美深造，得碩士學位。返國後先後投身教育界及政界，亦一度從戎，效力西北軍。後專注於歷史及文化研究，曾創辦多份雜誌，對推動文藝創作、歷史考據及鼓吹抗日，貢獻良多。政局變易後，到香港定居，潛心學術研究，以專治太平天國歷史蜚聲國際。
他亦嗜書畫，專事搜集廣東歷代名家作品，尤為推崇高劍父倡議之「新國畫運動」，兩人相交相知甚深，過從密切，得其書畫逾百，築「百劍樓」置之，又治「斑園供奉劍父百品之一」藏印作記。其收藏後轉讓香港中文大學文物館，少量精品留付後人。本幅乃其一，除簡氏藏印外，並鈐「玉僊欣賞」一印，即其夫人楊玉仙藏印，可見同為簡氏伉儷所重。
