註：啟功所作韻語，不拘泥於法則，遺詞淺白活潑，且多雜以嘲戲，嘗戲稱曰「胡語」。本卷所輯，對照〈啟功韻語〉，多屬一九七一年以後所作。內容除題畫、紀事、感懷、應友索句外，亦有多首害病之作。啟功雖疾病纏身，幽默不減，如〈沁園春．美尼爾氏綜合症〉，曰「病魔足下」，又云「別害怕，雖藥稱劇毒，管保平安」，苦中作樂，令人莞爾。
