上款：「墨巢」即李宣龔（1876-1952），字拔可，福建閩縣人。光緒甲午年（1894）舉人，出仕湘蘇。一九一三年入職商務印書館，輔佐張元濟達三十餘年。擅詩，為同光體閩派後期的代表人物。
註：李拔可與陳叔通於民國初年先後加入商務印書館，共事逾卅載，同得張菊生器重，不論業務發展、公務解紛，均參與籌劃，奔走其中。陳氏一九一五年入館，以編譯、發行、印刷三所協調不佳，成立總務處統一管理，並任處長，是時李氏任職編譯所。日後，墨巢調升任上海辦事處經理及發行所所長，叔通轉任公司董事，公私往還密切。三九年，合眾圖書館（現上海圖書館）成立，兩人同獲選任董事，致力搜救典籍免毀於戰火。
