固結砂岩歷盡萬年，經地下泉源的洗滌，凝住永恆。此類砂岩，尤以法國楓丹白露宮所出最為珍貴。太陽王路易十四也鍾情此類砂岩礦物，嘗命人採掘修復。此類砂岩，形態不拘，線條流麗，媲美現代雕刻佳作，曾為抽象派藝術家帶來不少靈感。華盛頓史密森學院美國國立自然史博物館藏一例，保存甚佳，可資比對。還可參考專場中另外三例，拍品編號3010、3023及3036。
