”本人一向從事國畫創作。透過延續筆墨的傳統，和挪用西方藝術的表现手法，我以「混融性」的方式来從新演繹書畫傳統，從而凸顯出香港獨有的文化特質。此外，我亦藉著「經典再造」這創作概念，以嶄新的角度來解讀傅統山水中的「視覺符碼」，並建構出一種當代的藝術形式。“ ——管偉邦
管偉邦，香港知名藝術家及教授，其當代水墨作品屢見於各大藝術機構，包括M+博物館、香港藝術館及三藩市亞洲藝術博物館。管氏把自己的作品定位為「國畫」，而非中國水墨畫。水墨畫因挪用西方藝術概念而經常受到非議，評論多指其與中國文化關係薄弱。管氏的「國畫」則著重以文人畫為主的傳統繪畫核心價值──筆墨，這種對傳統的回歸與對當代性的渴求也正反映了當今許多香港藝術家對文化身份的追尋。
