This work is in good condition. Minor accretions are noted especially on the upper half of the work. There are also minor horizontal abrasion marks near the top left corner. No evidence of restoration under UV examination.

早至一九九七年，桃花已經出現在周春芽筆下的作品之中，至二〇〇四年，桃花更成為他一個重要的創作系列。《桃花林》創作於二〇一三年，經過近十年的過程，《桃花林》是整個系列最為成熟的的作品之一。從「山石」系列、「綠狗」系列、「紅人」系列到「桃花」系列，周春芽將西方的表現主義與中國傳統繪畫的語匯及意向相結合，形成他獨樹一幟的「寫意表現」風格。「桃花」在藝術家的眾多創作系列中，最能夠表現他將西方表現主義跟東方文人雅士逸趣相融合。在中國繪畫傳統中，桃花是女人味、柔弱、生育和慾望的象徵。對於周春芽來說，桃花是關於激情和浪漫。「慾望是人類的一個組成部份，是我們與生俱來的東西。更重要的是，我們對性的感情和慾望都是活力的體現，象徵著全盛時期的生命。」
