the hollow cylindrical body with ribs rising from a flat unglazed base, the sides modelled with five ruyi-shaped heads in openwork, with a band of birds perched on fruiting and flowering branches, above floral sprays rising from a border of stylised waves, the mouth rim with the eight beribboned Buddhist emblems and a rectangular cartouche enclosing a six-character mark in underglaze blue

Condition

This stand is in overall good condition except for a chip (approx. 1.3 by 1 cm) to the base along with associated cracks, the longest approx. 2.5 cm, and two firing cracks to the base. There is a firing crack to the rim and fritting to the interior rim and other firing imperfections including various iron spots and burst bubbles.
