The vase is in good condition. The vase leans slightly to one side and there is some faint crackling to the glaze.

宋人對天地萬物之崇仰，於當朝文藝影響尤深，自然風尚，遍及各階層，範疇極廣，無遠弗屆，見於生活各方面，也見於宋瓷紋飾風格。黑釉鐵鏽花紋，流行於北方諸窰，繪花寫鳥，大多卻未免草率，畫工有欠細膩。本瓶採橄欖之形，不為多見，且四繫呈曲葉之狀，間飾纏枝牡丹，四妍盛放，卷葉輔之，飾紋繁密，極其罕稀。
東京國立博物館收藏一著名小口瓶，飾相近牡丹紋，紋飾繁密，圖載於 Margaret Medley，《Yüan Porcelain & Stoneware》，倫敦，1974年，彩圖版H。安思遠舊藏一例，曾展於《Hare’s Fur, Tortoiseshell, and Partridge Feathers. Chinese Brown-and Black-Glazed Ceramics, 400-1400》，哈佛大學藝術博物館，劍橋，1995年，編號56，售於紐約佳士得2015年3月17日，編號19。還可參考玫茵堂小梅瓶，載於康蕊君，《玫茵堂中國陶瓷》，倫敦，1994-2010年，卷1，圖版459。
本瓶短頸，口沿外撇，四繫若葉，應為盛酒之器。此器形乃磁州窰典式，多飾白地黑彩，其中有墨書酒家名號者，大維德爵士舊藏一例，現藏倫敦大英博物館，書有「人和館」銘，載於霍淑吉，〈The Taste of Cizhou〉，《Apollo Magazine》，2011年11月，頁48-44，作者並述大英博物館所藏器形相似之兩例，以及另一出土安徽現藏淮北市博物館之瓶。另參考一例，也帶「人和館」銘，圖載《中國古代窰址標本》，下：河北卷，北京，2006年，圖版095，同書並載一器形相近飾花卉紋之例，頁137。
