the container with a globular lower portion, the neck widening towards the mouth and bound in a thick band of spinach-green jade, the cover pierced on two levels, the upper level carved with a panoply of leaves, with a mountainous landscape and horses beneath pine branches, carved ba jun tu ('a picture of eight steed') in positive script below the rim, the base with a four-character apocryphal Guangxu mark within a square, wood stand
Condition
The cage and cover are in overall good condition. The spinach-green band and the reticulated dome have been stabilised to the cage and cover respectively. There are minute nicks to the fragile extremities of the cover. The catalogue illustration is brighter than the actual colour of the stone.
