鈞瓷菱口盤珍稀罕有，此盤尺寸見大，沿作七菱，異於常見之六菱或八菱，更是難得非凡。著錄未見相似造形、尺寸，且帶紫斑之例。

此類鈞窰盤器多為較小尺寸，平折沿，或有紫斑，圈足無釉，見支釘紋，參考大維德爵士珍藏一例，現存大英博物館，刊載於《Illustrated Catalogue of Ru, Guan, Jun, Guangdong and Yixing Wares in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art》，倫敦，1999年，編號93，同錄一件綠鈞盤，底帶五支釘痕，編號A66。支釘乃入窰時墊於器下，燒造完成後留於器底痕跡，周邊積釉，尤為金代製瓷特色，燒造尺寸較小盤器則僅需三支釘。南宋、金代時期，中國南北已見菱口器形，元時更為盛行，可見於陶瓷、銀器、漆作等。早期作例盤壁仍作圓弧，元例則見盤壁順應盤沿修作稜角；參考大英博物館藏南宋官窰六菱盤，錄於 Basil Gray，《Sung Porcelain and Stoneware》，倫敦，1984年，圖版109；藏品中還有一件金代定窰十菱盤，載於 S.J. Vainker，《Chinese Pottery and Porcelain》，倫敦，1991年，圖版72。

此件鈞盤經典可貴，然難尋相類之例，菱口盤器僅見北京故宮藏一宋例，施單色天藍釉，尺寸較小，圈足略窄，六菱盤沿，刊於《鈞瓷雅集：故宮博物院珍藏及出土鈞窰瓷器薈萃》，北京，2013年，圖版20；此盤並載錄於《故宮博物院藏文物精品全集：兩宋瓷器（上）》，香港，1996年，圖版228，並論及菱口器形，製作艱困不易。另一件類同故宮藏品之鈞窰菱口盤，尺寸亦小，無紫斑，1991年6月10日售於倫敦佳士得，編號78，1995年6月9日售於倫敦蘇富比，編號182。

禹州遺址出土可見鈞釉紫斑小盤，淺沿菱口，但器形相異且品質低落，參考《禹州鈞台窰》，2008年，彩圖版99:1、99:3；另一例火侯不佳，嚴重縮釉，刊於 R.L. Hobson，《The George Eumorfopoulos Collection of Chinese, Corean and Persian Pottery and Porcelain》，倫敦，1925-8年，卷3，圖版XIII，編號C61；並比較仇焱之舊藏天藍鈞釉菱口小盤，曾二度售於倫敦蘇富比，1980年12月16日，編號274，1986年12月9日，編號121，及紐約佳蘇富比1988年11月29日，編號153；M. Komor、Georges Debatz遞藏一例，1983年11月30日售於紐約佳士得，編號343。

鈞窰乃宋代名瓷，以河南禹州鈞台窰為主要窰址，亦燒造於河南其他地區，如寶豐清涼寺汝窰出土文物可見，《寶豐清涼寺汝窰》，鄭州，2008年，彩圖版183，及《故宮博物院藏中國古代窰址標本：河南卷》，卷1，北京，2005年。

河南三大重要窰址，汝窰、張公巷、鈞窰之間的相互關聯，可參考北京保利藝術博物館2009年專題展覽，展品包括禹州寶豐以南，葉縣出土相類藍釉盤，矮足，底見支釘痕；參考二件折沿圓盤，底見三支釘紋，還有一件尺寸略大圓盤，底有五支釘痕，《河南新出宋金名窰瓷器特展》，保利藝術博物館，北京，2009年，頁120-21、150-51。

部分中國學者稱此類盤器為「汝鈞」，見劉濤，《宋遼金紀年瓷器》，北京，2004年，頁149-50，此處刊載寶豐出土天藍釉圓盤，圈足、支釘紋均與此拍品相似，圖11-17。
