The plaque is in overall good condition. There are some expected minute nicks to the fragile extremities, with tiny sections possibly lightly polished. As visible in the catalogue illustration, there is a tiny bruise to the lower central leaf. The catalogue illustration is a tinge brighter than the actual colour of the stone.

巧匠取淨白籽玉，妙琢凌霄花紋，嬌瓣婉柔，葉脈纖緻，生意盎然。比較一件宋代凌霄花紋玉板，刊載於《故宮博物院藏品大系：玉器編卷5：唐宋遼金元》，北京，2011年，圖版196，同錄另二件花卉紋玉帶板，圖版197、198。並參考一件元代橢圓形玉帶板，亦鏤雕花卉紋，紋樣對稱，現藏北京首都博物館，錄於《中國玉器全集》，卷5，北京，1998年，圖版177；巴斯東亞藝術博物館藏一件金代作例，載於 Angus Forsyth 與 Brian McElney，《Jades from China》，香港，1994年，圖版244。

此式玉雕帶板雅緻珍稀，形制圓潤，用以鑲綴衣袍腰帶，象徵主人身份崇高、品味清雅。縫於腰帶上之玉雕帶板，可溯至公元三、四世紀，或取材自中亞地區之金銀製飾板，融入中原文化，成為傳統衣飾配件，材質各異，玉製帶板則屬最為貴重者。據《明會要》記載：「其帶：一品，玉；二品，花犀⋯⋯」，可見玉帶飾只限最高等級之一品官佩戴（見羅森，《Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing》，倫敦，1995年，頁326）。
