清十八世紀 青白玉雕佛手擺件

the naturalistically carved 'Buddha's hand' attached to a leafy gnarled stalk suspending a smaller attendant fruit, its 'fingers' extending sinuously and mingling at their tips, the translucent stone of an attractive even pale celadon colour

The carving is in overall good condition. There are some insignificant occasional nibbling to the extremities and edges, occasional fine crackles, but none that appear to be recent and most likely original to the carving.

此白玉雕佛手精雕而成，溫潤細膩，盡顯乾隆時期清宮造辦處工藝之精湛。可比較美國西雅圖藝術博物館藏一白玉佛手，見屈志仁，《Chinese Jades from the Collection of the Seattle Art Museum》，西雅圖，1989年，圖版79。哈特曼舊藏，圖載於 Robert Kleiner，《哈特曼收藏中國玉器》，1996年，圖版202。第三例，售於香港蘇富比2010年4月8日，編號1905。佛手，長得像佛之手而得名。佛手的發音跟「福壽」相近，且佛是智慧、無緣大慈、同體大悲的仁愛象徵，因此佛手就成為福的代表，逢新年佳節以之慶賀。
