清乾隆 青白玉題詩「羲之玩鵝」圖山子

the substantial boulder boldly worked on one side with the bearded scholar, Wang Xizhi, next to a kneeling attendant holding a goose, all amidst a rocky landscape arboured with wutong trees and portrayed with mountainous cliffs forming the background, the upper right section incised with an imperial poem titled yuti Xizhi wan e yuqi ('Imperial poem on jade ware of Xizhi playing with goose') in regular script, the reverse similarly rendered with rugged rock faces and centred with a tall pine tree, further decorated with river streams and animals, including a deer and two cranes, one swooping downward, the other perched near a waterfall and sprouting lingzhi blooms, the stone of a pale celadon colour with natural icy inclusions, wood stand

The boulder is in overall good condition. There are some minor nicks to the extremities, including the tips of the deer's antlers and the tip of the crane's tail. There are also some natural flaws to the stone.

題識：
御題羲之玩鵞玉器
為書道德籠鵞返，便草時晴作美談。
却似一籌贏褉帖，縮成玉枕自河南。

山子琢王羲之倚石而立，其侍者蹲抱一鵝相伴。乾隆帝鍾愛書法大家王羲之作，蒐集其《快雪時晴帖》、其子王獻之《中秋帖》及其侄王珣之《伯遠帖》，視若珍寶 ，存於養心殿三希堂。

以歷史人物為題材之玉雕作品較為罕見，北京故宮博物院藏一例，以赤壁為題，錄於《故宮博物院藏品大系：玉器編》， 卷8：清，北京，2011年，圖版97。另見一例，落《乾隆年製》款，售於紐約佳士得1993年6月3日，編號46。且參考些許作八仙題材例，三例曾售於紐約蘇富比，其一為斯坦恩舊藏，1982年2月26日，編號462；其二售於1981年2月27，編號523；其三售於1979年11月10日，編號109。另有一例售於香港蘇富比2012年10月9日，編號3147。倫敦佳士得2002年11月12日亦出售一相似例，編號46。

山子上王羲之表情溫和，神態輕鬆，與白鵝、侍從為伴，愈顯逸致悠然。王羲之愛鵝，傳說為換一鵝，嘗替道士抄寫《道德經》。也傳其觀察鵝頸俯仰伸曲，悟書法運筆神髓，融書法之道於自然。觀賞本玉雕，思羲之愛鵝之意趣，其樂無窮也。
