Condition
There is minor bruises and minute chips to the lacquer. There is some rubbing to the gilding. Otherwise good condition.

Wall vases made of carved lacquer are rare and those inset with a jade plaque are even rarer. See a wall vase decorated on the body with a panel inscribed in gilt against a black lacquer ground, sold at Christie’s London, 15th May 2007, lot 112. Compare also a carved lacquer wall vase with its original wood stand, sold at Christie’s New York, 15th September 2009, lot 239; and a pair of wall vases sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 1st December 2010, lot 3093.
